Artist’s Statement
“basic patterns that imply the underlying unity of existence.”
This quote attributed to Merry Harris resonates with meaning and purpose. It speaks loudly of the concept of “patterns” in a holistic and comprehensive manner. It is not bound by time, border, or culture.
A pattern is a “template” used to create a “form.”
A pattern is a “reoccurring” shape.
A pattern is a routine that establishes “rhythm.”
A pattern is a reoccurring action or activity.
PATTERNS “exist” in the world of nature and humans. Nature and humanity coexist in balance. Patterns contribute to the harmony of human existence and nature.
PATTERNS (the sculpture) recognizes the sense of “community” in the broadest possible context. It acknowledges the role of each individual in the plan for a “world community” as the essence of existence.
